Re: chocking murder of a swiss ski champion
Wed, May 3, 2006 - 3:07 PMThere's the chief neurologist of the CHUV (Centre hospitalier universitaire vaudois) who has allegedly embezzled up to 2 mio. CHF for his hobby, books. There has been election fraud. There have been riots in Zurich - feels like back in the beginning of the eighties! There is the "cat fight" in Zurich (no, I think you are not involved <g>) between Fuhrer and Fierz. The Conseiller fédéral Deiss has resigned and the speculations are on for his successor. The CEOs earn too many millions. And then there is Bernard Rappaz (on a hunger strike for 50 days now because of his provisional detention since March 15) etc. etc. .... Really, reading Swiss newspapers hasn't been so interesting in years.
The husband of Rey-Bellet has just been found dead in a forest close to Ollon VD. He apparently shot himself. It's really tragic: Rey-Bellet's brother was supposed to get married on Friday, instead, there will be the funeral. -

Re: chocking murder of a swiss ski champion
Thu, May 4, 2006 - 3:58 AMWell the riots in Zurich are quite of expected every year after the official 1. May demonstration. Unfortunately there are some hooligans who will take whatever opportunity to throw stones...
I always try to stay off the streets as much as I can on this day.
But hey, you forgot to mention that we have a new Mister Switzerland! His name is very Swiss too: Miguel San Juan... www.misterschweiz.ch/

it's one effect of the globalization, unfortunately.
Now a local mountain murder is broadcasted all over the world in seconds, that's maybe what shocked me the most.
