a view of Zurich thru the NYtimes

good tips from the Nytimes

<<Zurich, for all its reputation — regal, moneyed, hyperefficient and safe — has in recent years become a very different city, one of immigration, youthful decadence and a vibrant contemporary art scene...
Forget that the Swiss have the annoying British tic of complaining about the weather year round. With low humidity, Zurich is perfect in the spring and summer. There's sunbathing and swimming along the Brita-clean Limmat, boating on the lake, biking through the orderly city streets, relaxing outdoor cinemas and a vibrant alfresco bar scene. Zurich, in the same spirit as its quaint and edgy northern cousins Amsterdam and Copenhagen — will pleasantly confirm and confound expectations.>>

and a mention of the Migros museum...

Interesting that you chose that particular paragraph to quote from the article, Cat. I would have chosen the one just before:

"Langstrasse, the main drag of the red light district, has also become a new destination for artists, students and intellectuals. With its trendy bars, art house cinemas and kebab stands — to say nothing of the open prostitution and drug trade — it's the anti-Zurich, which is probably why it's so popular with local residents, who can seem a little embarrassed by their comfort and affluence."

    Who knew?

      I knew :-)

I always take my visitors to Langstrasse - after showing them the Niederdorf of course :-)

A trip to Zurich just isn't complete without eating a kebap at New Point!

New point is definately the best, no ausgang is complete until one stops in on the way home! Great food and nice people.
But i have to disagree with the NYTimes on the humidity issue, i've never in my 12years here felt a summer as humid as this one has been (even 2003), and i've never seen the snow soooo early off the alps...spring is and was luscious! But i miss gewitters that actually produce a 15minute cool off shower just in time for kino am see:-)
